While documenting the good works of I Care International as a volunteer (www.icareinternational.org), I would shoot in the mornings and evenings before and after clinic. These pictures are a result of those walks...

I Care International has treated over 200,000 people in countries such as Guatemala, Belize, Costa Rica, Mexico, Honduras and Ecuador. Our aim is to reach out to those in need. Many of the people we treat have never had the opportunity to see an eye doctor. We treat approx. 1,500 to 2,000 villagers in our four day clinics providing them with a full vision exam, eyeglasses if needed, sunglasses for the tropical sun and medicines for minor eye disease. These images will be changing from time to time as I have captured over 7,000 images from these trips.

Oceans and Waves

If you know me, you are well aware of my love for the Ocean. Some crave the mountains. Others yearn for the pristine silence of a deep Forest. Some of my best friends tell me that I am truly missing the boat, that to experience the vastness and simple beauty that the Desert offers is to experience the serene solitude found no where else. We all have our sanctuaries... Those places we go to re-connect, to re establish who we are.

These places define us more than we can understand.

This is probably why I have thus far, been unable to capture on film my passion for the Sea... Kelp, Energy, Salt, Motion, Constant Change, Kalideoscopic Light, Prisms,The Sensual Feel Of Sand through your Toes, The Rhythmical tugging of the Tides. It goes on and on, and thats what draws me, I have spent 50+ years almost daily making room in my day to get down to the Shore and I have yet to be nothing less than enthralled... on every visit.

Eye Care In Mexico, Central & South America

Soon to embark on my sixth eyecare mission. Five with I Care International to Guatemala and Mexico and one with the New York chapter of VOSH to the Amazon region of Peru. On these missions we take thousands of donated glasses and medical equipment, set up clinic for 4 to 5 days and treat between 300 to 500 villagers. We provide full eye exams and treat minor infections. When possible we provide eyeglasses and sunglasses to all that are in need. My job is to document the trips both on digital film and video and once home give presentations to local schools, service groups and others to inform them on what these organizations provide to the less fortunate. These images were taken in Iquitos, Trujillo, Belen, Lima and Bagua Chica, Peru while on an eye care mission documenting the volunteer group Vosh-NY as they provided eye care, dental work and cataract surguries to those less fortunate. These images were taken before and after the clinics on walks as well as on side trips after the work was done.

Landscapes...My first subjects when I started out. Today landscapes are as not as much of an interest...Tomorrow...Who knows ?

I have been told that I should focus in on one subject, Concentrate on just images of People or hone my craft by picking one broad subject matter. No...

The joy to me, the reason this thing called Photography is my passion is the ability to be influenced or captivated by one subject one moment and the next be onto something totally different. I do think there is a common thread running through my images, but a very loose one at that...

How could one play just Jazz music...Would you not want to play the Blues when that "sound" is, at that moment what it is all about ? And the next moment that sound or feeling might be Motown... Maybe a strange analogy to some, but it works for me...
